Family Support Program Parent Group Facilitator

Job Description

The mission of Greater Richmond SCAN is to prevent child abuse and neglect. The Parent Group Facilitator is responsible for leading a weekly, intensive treatment parenting education group at Greater Richmond SCAN. Other duties include assessing client’s needs; providing case management and service referrals; maintaining client records, as well as additional required paperwork; collaborating with children’s group facilitator regarding family needs; participating in quarterly staff meetings, monthly peer supervision; developing and maintaining relationships with human service providers in the community; and maintaining contact with supervisor regarding group and client needs.

Qualifications

This position requires: (1) a minimum of a Master’s degree in social work or other related human service field; (2) existing knowledge of child abuse and neglect issues; (3) prior experience with providing parent support/education in a group setting; (4) strong/developed clinical skills; counseling experience; (5) excellent verbal and written communication skills; (6) experience working with diverse populations and cultural competency; and (7) program documentation and evaluation skills.

Position: This is a part-time position facilitating a virtual parenting group (3–5 hours per week), with opportunities to assist with conducting parenting group intakes as needed.

Salary: $30 – $32 per hour

CAC Trauma-Focused Treatment Clinician 

General Description

The CAC Trauma-Focused Treatment Clinician is responsible for providing trauma-focused therapy services for children who have experienced traumatic events and for their non-offending family caregivers.  These services include: crisis intervention, clinical assessments and trauma-focused treatment. In addition, the clinician will provide comprehensive case management services, conduct intake appointments and coordinate efforts within a team-based approach.

 

Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or other related field. Licensure as an LCSW or LPC is required.  Experience working with children of all ages and developmental levels who have experienced trauma (specifically sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to violence and problematic sexual behavior) is required. Understanding of trauma-informed practice, multiculturalism, family systems required and knowledge of community resources is preferred.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient therapy using a variety of evidence based/informed treatment modalities (e.g., Trauma Focused – Integrated Play Therapy (TF-IPT), Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and expressive therapies, *training will be provided*) for children and non-offending family members to attain stated treatment goals and objectives.
  •  Participate in team-based outreach process for new referrals to determine initial treatment needs and provide recommendations to caregivers.
  • Conduct initial intake sessions utilizing trauma assessment measures to identify symptoms related to trauma, healthy and unhealthy coping skills, challenges that may require outside referrals, caregiver protective factors and determine preliminary DSM 5 diagnoses.
  • Provide crisis intervention to assist children who have experienced trauma and their non-offending family members as needed for clients on active caseload.
  • Co-facilitate group/workshops for non-offending caregivers.
  • Provide case management services including: maintenance of electronic health records, online appointment schedule, ongoing contact with caregivers and other professionals, provide court testimony when requested and provide referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Provide ongoing research, development and implementation of therapeutic interventions for children who have experienced trauma and their family members.
  • Participate in team-based approach with CAC staff members and Multi-disciplinary Team partners.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Richmond CASA Case Manager 

General Description

The Case Manager provides professional support to CASA volunteers ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and permanency planning.  The Case Manager is responsible for volunteer supervision, assisting with court preparation and coordination of cases. The Case Manager receives direction from and is supervised by the Program Director, and completes all duties listed below and other assignments as requested. CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a program of Greater Richmond SCAN.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field (BSW preferred). Excellent written and oral communications. Knowledge of the child welfare and/or human services field and/or the Juvenile Court process. Excellent interpersonal skills. Case management experience helpful. Experience working with volunteers preferred.

 

Major Responsibilities (40 hours per week)

  • Assist in screening of potential volunteer candidates.
  • Assist in initial and in-service volunteer training as assigned.
  • Supervise and support volunteers assigned throughout each case.
  • Attend all ERO, PPO and five-day hearings as assigned by Program Director.
  • Screen all cases referred to CASA and match to appropriate volunteers.
  • Obtain all necessary paperwork to establish case files and close case files.
  • Ensure adequate case coverage during absence of volunteer or during process of reassignment.
  • File all CASA reports in the clerk’s office within 72 hours of court hearing date.
  • Maintain appropriate data on individual cases and the assigned volunteers.
  • Maintain all records in CASA Manager in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support in absence of, or as assigned by Program Director.
  • Participate in public relations/community education efforts of CASA, as requested by the Volunteer Coordinator or Executive Director.
  • Serve as a member of the Child Advocacy Center Multi Disciplinary Team.
  • Attend conferences and workshops (as approved by Executive Director) to further develop professional skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
