David-1Eager to work in an organization he has always admired, David LeFebvre joined Greater Richmond SCAN as Development Director in November of 2014. “Since moving to Richmond, I have always heard of SCAN’s great reputation and high impact within the community.” said David.

Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, David knew he wanted to be involved with his community. In high school David was an active volunteer and involved in community organizations. After studying non-profit leadership at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, David decided he wanted to move into the Development field for his career.

“I discovered that Development was the best of both worlds for me. I was able to continue to see the mission in action every day, but also help engage and connect with the community by including them as part of the process.” said David.

David started his career at Virginia Center for Inclusive Community facilitating diversity training and special events, and then moved to full time Development and Fundraising at Virginia Home for Boys and Girls.

David steps into the Development Director role with an emphasis on SCAN’s Annual Fund, Grants, and special events within SCAN.

“There are so many ways for individuals to get involved with SCAN. We work to engage volunteers, suggest simple donation ideas like snack drives and pinwheels for prevention, encourage participation in events such as our upcoming 5k Race to Protect Children, and help increase awareness by joining us during April – National Child Abuse Prevention month.” said David.

“This position continues to inspire and motivate me. There are so many people you interact with on a daily basis with who want to be involved with your organization and mission.”
