Rommi Shtayyeh leads SCAN BYP Blue and White Ball
Rommi has been on SCAN’s Board of Young Professionals for three years. This year he’s bringing his enthusiasm, leadership, and talents to chair the group’s signature fundraiser, the Blue and White Ball. Rommi is always the first person to jump in when help is needed and his friendliness, passion, and determination has been an incredible asset to SCAN!
SCAN’s Blue and White Ball will be held on March 7, 2020 at the Science Museum of Virginia. Learn more about the event, purchase tickets, become a corporate sponsor, or find out how to donate an auction item on the event website.
How did you first get involved with SCAN?
I first became involved through two current BYP members, Megan and Elliot. They knew I was looking to help out with an organization and they were so passionate about SCAN. Their enthusiasm made me want to get involved.
What is your current work role?
I run the pricing and margin management team at Owens and Minor.
What inspires you to stay involved with your work at SCAN?
SCAN’s mission statement inspires me to stay involved. You can see the direct impact of what SCAN does in the world and in our community.
Is there anything you wish other people knew about SCAN?
I wish people knew how broad SCAN’s work is. Everyone understands the acronym Stop Child Abuse Now, but they don’t have the in depth knowledge of all five programs. There is so much that SCAN does through the Circle Preschool, Child Advocacy Center, Family Support Program, Richmond Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Community Programs. SCAN has more than one touch point in society and impacts multiple generations of families from start to finish.
What has been the best experience with SCAN so far?
I’ve enjoyed the atmosphere of everyone involved with and contributing to SCAN. From serving beer at Friday Cheers to being involved on the Board of Young Professionals everyone is so friendly and willing to step up to help out a great cause.
Do you have any goals or hopes for the next year with SCAN?
My goal is to help the BYP meet our fundraising goal for the year through the Blue and White Ball.
Are you involved with any other community organizations, hobbies, or activities?
I enjoy sports like basketball, golf a softball and have a rescue dog named Addax.
