Name: Jenn Barua
Volunteer Since: May 2018
What do you do when you aren’t volunteering for CASA? In my spare time I enjoy biking, hiking and rock climbing with my friends. I also enjoy playing with my pets! I work at a yoga/ juice bar right now and I am also going to school to be eventually become a forensic nurse.
Why do you CASA? I do CASA because I understand that there are children and teens out there that need a voice. I love the kids I am working with now, and I understand the struggles of coming to America and not knowing anyone or speaking English. Every child has story, and I think it is important that they have an advocate that can understand what they are going through. It is extremely fulfilling watching the kids open up to me and become their own person, and knowing that I am helping them. I hope that I am playing a role in creating a secure and better future for them.
Why we think Jenn is awesome: Jenn is passionate about the CASA program and is always willing to help out with whatever is needed. She has developed a strong relationship with her CASA kids, and has at times been the only person on the case who is able to communicate with them in Spanish.
