Carol Mackey

Name: Carol Mackey

Volunteer Since: March 2016

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering for CASA? I work full-time as a project manager/scrum master for UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing). I’m also a hospice volunteer. In my free time, I enjoy bike riding with my husband, Clyde, reading, hiking, going to movies, yoga, and visiting my oldest son, Isaac, at University of California, Santa Barbara and my youngest son, Noah, at Clemson University.
Why do you CASA? I love being a CASA and having a role in protecting our children and being part of the social safety net.  I found it very rewarding to visit one of my children in their special needs classroom in a Henrico County high school and learning firsthand what our schools do to accommodate students with learning disabilities.  My current CASA child is very young and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the foster family and seeing how loving and supportive they are.
Why we think Carol is awesome:  Carol brings a high level of dignity and integrity to her role as a CASA. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude, even when she is faced with challenges. Carol treats everyone with respect and is empathetic towards everyone she comes into contact with, especially her CASA kids and families. We are fortunate to call such a kind, dedicated, hardworking person one of our own!
